Vroon is a diversified international shipping company. Vroon’s headquarters are located in Breskens on the estuary of the Westerscheldt river in the Netherlands. Today the company operates worldwide and has a fleet of around 160 vessels transporting livestock, dry cargo, containers, automobiles, and clean and dirty oil products, as well as a large fleet of offshore-support vessels.

The company is privately held by the Vroon family and currently managed by its fourth generation. Founded in 1890, the company originally exported agricultural products to England, France and Belgium while importing coal into the Netherlands. However, after World War II the company saw bigger opportunities in transportation and changed its focus from trading commodities to owning and managing vessels. Vroon B.V. is situated in Breskens, the Netherlands. It is the main office, housing a number of head-office and group functions, as well as some operational activities.

 

Marketing, chartering and operations activities for the dry cargo, container and car carrier fleets are coordinated from Breskens, as are the operations of the livestock fleet. In addition, a number of group support and coordination functions are based in Breskens, such as HRM, ICT, legal, corporate and insurance support, treasury, controlling, accounting and reporting, QA, HSE, newbuilding supervision, crewing, procurement and technical supervision and support. Furthermore, business development, contracting of new vessels, plus sale and purchase of second-hand vessels are coordinated by staff in Breskens.  

 

The company employs approximately 110 staff.
