VROON’S NEW-GENERATION EMERGENCY RESPONSE AND RESCUE VESSEL CHRISTENED IN ABERDEEN FOR TAQA BRATANI

Aberdeen, 27 November 2009

Vroon Offshore Services (VOS), Aberdeen, today christened its newly delivered, Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel (ERRV), VOS Voyager, in Aberdeen Harbour. The state-of-the-art vessel goes into services for TAQA Bratani Ltd., a daughter company of the Abu-Dhabi National Energy Company, from 30 November, as part of a long-term time-charter agreement.

VOS is delighted that Mrs. Chris Dunridge, Human Resources Manager of TAQA Bratani Ltd., agreed to be the vessel’s “Godmother” at the christening ceremony, which included a tour of the VOS Voyager for TAQA employees.

Mr. Coco Vroon, Managing Director of Vroon Group BV, commented, “As a leading service provider for the offshore industry on location in the North Sea and around the world, VOS is proud to develop partnerships with high-quality companies such as TAQA Bratani, one of the fastest growing names in the energy sector and one which shares our dedication to safety at sea.”

Mr. Jan-Piet Baars, Managing Director of VOS Ltd. in Aberdeen, said, “The VOS Voyager represents the next generation of ERRVs,  with the very high specification further enhanced with two daughter crafts, two fast-rescue vessels and the capacity to accommodate over 300 survivors, to meet TAQA Bratani’s requirements”.

The VOS Voyager is part of a 15-vessel series being built at the Zamakona Shipyard in Spain for VOS, with three vessels still to be delivered in 2010 and three in 2011. The latest delivery is 60 metres long, with a beam of 12.7 metres. VOS will operate the vessel with a crew of 15 highly trained seafarers who have extensive experience in the offshore and, in particular, the emergency response and rescue sector. The vessel has twin azimuth propulsion and two bow-thrusters, all powered by a diesel-electric system.

With offices in Aberdeen, Den Helder, Genova and Singapore, Vroon is a major provider of offshore shipping services in the North Sea, Mediterranean and Asia, from platform supply, anchor handling and ERRV to subsea support and seismic/survey vessels. With an operational fleet of some 100 vessels and a further 20 on order, the delivery of the VOS Voyager illustrates the ongoing fleet renewal commitment of the Vroon organisation.

Note to Editors:

The Vroon group was founded by the Vroon family over a century ago in the Netherlands. Initially, the company traded in coal, fertilisers and agricultural products. In 1952 the first dry cargo ship was built and, following this, the company rapidly developed its shipping activities in many different markets.

Today Vroon is a dynamic and ambitious international shipping company, active in a number of specialised and commodity-type shipping segments. Vroon operates and manages a diverse fleet of about 140 vessels, including livestock carriers, dry cargo vessels, container vessels, tankers, car carriers and offshore-support vessels. Vroon is also involved in the wind-turbine installation and maintenance sector. A large fleet expansion and newbuilding programme will secure further growth in the years ahead.

Vroon has been active in the offshore market for 45 years and, under the name VOS, is a leading maritime offshore services supplier. The geographical focus is primarily on the North Sea, Mediterranean and South East Asia. VOS has offices in Aberdeen, Den Helder, Genoa and Singapore. VOS has a modern fleet of approximately 100 vessels, with more than 20 newbuilding vessels on order.

VOS operates four main vessel categories: platform supply vessels (PSV), anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels, emergency response and rescue vessels (ERRV) and subsea support vessels. In addition, a wide range of additional offshore services, such as seismic/survey support, maintenance and scientific support, is offered on a worldwide basis.
