Vroon Offshore Services complete Italian fleet-renewal programme
30 March 2010
We are pleased to announce that Vroon Offshore Services (VOS) Srl in Genoa, Italy has completed its fleet-renewal programme.
During the past six months, five vessels have been delivered to the Italian-flagged fleet.
These five vessels are:
- one platform supply vessel (PSV), VOS Energy, built in 2008 and further upgraded upon arrival in Italy to include oil-recovery capability;
- four anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels, built in China, namely VOS Hades and VOS Hestia, both built in 2009; and VOS Hera and VOS Tethys both built in 2010.
All new vessels are working under long-term contracts with an Italian oil company in the Adriatic Sea. At present, VOS operates a total of 13 Italian-flagged offshore vessels and it is anticipated that a number of additional new vessels will join the Italian-flag fleet during the coming 12 to 18 months. Furthermore, some older vessels will be divested.
In total, VOS operates a fleet of more than 100 offshore-support vessels and has some 20 new vessels on order.
