Annual event celebrating seafarers around the world

Seafarers keep global trade flowing, delivering food, medicine and vital goods around the world. Their work is essential to our lives and economies. Supported by colleagues in the office, Vroon’s highly trained and professional teams at sea operate our vessels safely and efficiently 24/7.

The Day of the Seafarer is an annual event. Initiated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), it celebrates the important role seafarers play in our global community. Taking place on 25 June, this Day salutes the often-unrecognised contributions made by seafarers to international seaborne trade, the world economy and society.

The IMO’s theme for 2025 is ‘My Harassment-Free Ship’. This campaign aims to promote a culture of respect and zero tolerance for bullying and harassment at sea, seeking to:

• Raise awareness about the reality of harassment at sea.
• Promote proactive industry action to implement zero-tolerance policies.
• Encourage reporting and accountability through safe and accessible channels.
• Equip seafarers with resources and support to navigate and combat harassment.
• Support a better, safer future for all seafarers.

In this IMO video, seafarers and industry voices come together to share real stories, experiences, and a collective vision for a maritime industry rooted in respect, safety and dignity.
