Vroon continues sponsorship of OSJ Safety Award

Helix Energy Solutions was announced as winner of the Offshore Support Journal (OSJ) Safety Award for 2026 at this week’s Annual OSJ Conference, Awards & Exhibition. The Award was presented to Helix Energy Solutions’ Terrence Jamerson (Vice President, Production Facilities) and Clarisse Osegueda (Helix Producer I Vessel Captain), by Matthew Gordon (Managing Director Vroon Offshore Services Ltd.).

Vroon has been the proud sponsor of the prestigious OSJ Safety Award since its inauguration in 2018. It is awarded annually to a company, person, project or product that has either set industry safety benchmarks and/or made the difference in terms of safety of life, property and environment in an offshore-support-vessel (OSV) operation or incident during the previous 12 months.

This year’s Award went to Helix Energy Solutions in recognition of the company’s Helix Producer I (HP I). HP I is a ship-shaped, dynamically positioned floating production unit converted from a train ferry to produce hydrocarbons from offshore oil fields. Before its first production job in 2010, the vessel was contracted by BP to aid response and containment efforts following the Macondo oil spill. During the response, HP I connected to seafloor equipment to collect escaping oil and gas, processing hydrocarbons on board. Operating for Talos Energy with exceptional safety, HP I achieved 15 years without a lost-time incident in December 2025, reflecting Helix’s strong safety culture and commitment to zero-incident operations.
