With headquarters located in Breda (the Netherlands), Vroon employs about 3,000 professionals in offices around the world and on board a diverse fleet of approximately 130 vessels. The Company is active - through various subsidiaries and under different brand names - in the following business segments: livestock carriers; offshore-support vessels; offshore maintenance and engineering services; dry-cargo vessels; container vessels; product tankers; high-heat tankers; car carriers and vessel-management services.
From our Breda head office, approximately 120 staff support the Company’s activities. The HRM Department provides support to the Company’s Management Companies and shore-based employees worldwide.
We are looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join our current team of four professionals. Our new colleague will have affinity for the business, and eyes and ears for people development.


What will you do?
As an experienced HR Advisor, you execute the Company’s HR strategy by managing day-to-day HR operations for your dedicated clients (functions and business areas). In this tactical job, you are responsible for the implementation and development of HR policies, procedures and programmes related to recruitment and on-boarding, organisational & departmental development, training & personal development, compensation & benefits and employee relations. You will have the freedom to build up a close and mutually rewarding relationship with the business areas and functions for which you are responsible.

You work independently, while at the same time maintaining efficient collaboration with your colleague HR Advisor(s) on relevant topics. As process expert, you take the lead in continuous improvement and efficiency of our back-office processes and service delivery.


Main deliverables in this role:

  • Coaching and advising managers and employees on application of HR policies;
  • Responding to queries related to the HR (self-service) system;
  • Owning the full employee life cycle and actively supporting managers on key topics, such as recruitment, on-boarding, sickness, performance management, career development, reward and recognition;
  • Taking the lead in HR administration and HR process efficiency and managing data related to budgets, headcounts, KPIs;
  • Contributing to the further development of HR policies and tools and owning a number of specific subject matter areas, e.g. Arbo, benefits, well-being programs.

In this position, you will be based in Breda and will report to the Group HR Manager.

Who are we looking for?

In addition, our preferred candidate has:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management;
  • A minimum of eight years of work experience in a similar generalist HR position;
  • Affinity with the more process-oriented side of HR and with HR systems is an absolute plus;
  • Experience in an international environment (must-have);
  • Experience in the maritime or offshore industry (nice-to-have);
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and skills in English and Dutch.
