With headquarters located in Breda (the Netherlands), Vroon employs about 3,000 professionals in offices around the world and on board a diverse fleet of approximately 140 vessels. The Company is active - through various subsidiaries and under different brand names - in the following business segments: livestock carriers; offshore-support vessels; offshore maintenance and engineering services; dry-cargo vessels; container vessels; product tankers; high-heat tankers; car carriers and vessel-management services.
From our Breda head office, approximately 120 staff support the Company’s activities.

As Procurement and Purchasing Manager you will join our Shared Resources Department. The Shared Resources Department consists of professionals with a Technical, Operational, Crewing, QHSE and Procurement background and is responsible for the day-to-day support of our offices and vessels in these areas.

What will you do?
As Procurement and Purchasing Manager you supervise the purchasing teams, improve processes and systems resulting in synergy and reduction of overall acquisition cost. You negotiate, establish and evaluate group contracts and add value on operational, tactical and strategic level. You manage and develop your internal and external relationships and have an up-to-date understanding of the maritime industry and regulatory procurement trends. You hold ownership of vendor management, including cost-saving and -avoidance reporting and periodically communicate procurement progress  to internal and external stakeholders.

Who are we looking for?
Our preferred candidate has:

  • A Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Business Administration or Engineering, complemented by NEVI 1/2 or equivalent;
  • Approximately five years’ experience in an international environment and affinity with the maritime industry is a plus;
  • Relevant purchasing experience and excellent contracting- and negotiation skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills in English;
  • The ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation;
  • Willingness to travel.
