With headquarters located in Breda (the Netherlands), Vroon employs about 3,000 professionals in offices around the world and on board a diverse fleet of approximately 140 vessels. The Company is active - through various subsidiaries and under different brand names - in the following business segments: livestock carriers; offshore-support vessels and services; dry-cargo vessels; container vessels; product tankers; high-heat tankers; car carriers and vessel-management services.

From our Breda head office, approximately 120 staff support the Company’s activities.


What will you do?

To strengthen the Purchasing team, we are looking for a Purchaser to join our Shared Resources team, located at our Breda head office. You will handle purchasing activities for a dedicated group of vessels. Tasks will include:

  • Purchasing of authorised goods and services, in accordance with legal and other relevant requirements and specifications;
  • Monitoring and reporting in this context;
  • Complying with the Company order process, reporting any non-conformities and taking relevant action, if and when necessary;
  • Maintaining regular contact with suppliers and evaluating their performance, in accordance with the Company’s vendor-rating system.

In addition to the Shared Resources team, you will work in close cooperation with a Ship Management Team, consisting of Superintendents, fellow Purchasers and a Crewing Office in supporting the vessels. You report to the Group Procurement and Purchasing Manager.

Who are we looking for?

Our preferred candidate has:

  • A diploma in procurement and supply-chain management;
  • Strong ability to work independently and in a structured manner;
  • A minimum of one to two years’ experience in a similar position;
  • Excellent negotiating skills;
  • Good commercial awareness;
  • Willingness to travel;
  • Ability to work well under pressure;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and reporting skills in English.
